Weight: 50.5g (76g with 450mAh battery) 2S Micro-class! I'm pretty proud of myself for how clean this build looks! The build took me longer than expected due to receiving two faulty parts. But RMA-ing with GetFPV was a very positive experience.
First off, I'm impressed with how TINY the components all are. It's been a stellar year of a flux of new parts!
I spent a little more than I had intended on a 2S build, but I think spending a bit extra on brand new boards from Lumenier has proved itself worthwhile from just the cleanliness alone. The 4-in-1 ESC and F4 FC are easy, plug-in-play, removing the hassle of soldering connections.
The numbers on the two boards don't correspond to one another for orienting motors, so that took me a few minutes to wrap my head around. I drew out a diagram for reference to completely avoid any confusion and mistakes. When I finally thought my build was complete, I tried binding for the first time and was sad to learn I had a bad FC from a faulty batch. Replacement worked immediately. Asides from these minor issues, this has been the easiest build.
Previously when I used a 4-in-1 ESC, I had the battery plug into the ESC, and powered the FC through ESC. I've been told this is the ideal way, but not precisely sure the reasoning. For this one, I decided lipo would plug into FC and ran ESC power from there, as the plug for ESC to FC got in the way. Doesn't seem to be an issue so far.
Purchased a cheap portable light box. It's better than I expected for $15. Got one with 40 LEDs (2 strips of 20), not the 20 LED one. Seems like that was the right decision.
hoverbot.io Nano frame [[ hoverbot.io ]] I was initially thinking of building a smaller one, but settled on this 90mm because the unlimited warranty on CF frame was a good selling point. $45
Lumenier MicroLUX F4 FC w/ Frsky SBUS receiver [[ GetFPV ]] First one I received was from a faulty batch, wouldn't bind. Second one I received worked like a charm. $49
Lumenier Mini BLHeli_S 10A 4-in-1 OPTO ESC DSHOT [[ GetFPV ]] Initially ordered from GetFPV, had to RMA was DOA.... Ordered a second one from Amazon for quick Prime shipping because it was out of stock at GetFPV. $40
Lumenier AIO-200mW Camera [[ GetFPV ]] Camera + VTX combo makes builds so much cleaner! $30
Racestar BR1103-8000kv motors [[ Banggood ]] I thought these motors were small until I saw 0703s! Anyway, first time purchasing from Banggood because I couldn't find non-red colored motors from any US retailer. $32/4 motors
**Battery Charging adapter [[ Amazon ]] [[ Amazon ]] Because of course I'll need yet another accessory. Picked up one with 6 leads, another one with just a single. $9/$11
**M3x3 & M3x5 Threadless Spacers [[ GetFPV ]] [[ GetFPV ]] Fitting a lot of little parts on a 20x20 board can be tough. Picked up some extra of these for spacing between ESC and FC to avoid damaging. $2.50 - $3
**Lightbox [[ Amazon ]] Was $18. I got a faulty cable (dual micro to USB) and didn't want to go through to hassle of returning the whole thing, so Amazon refunded $3.50. Tried my own cables, just plugs in like a phone. Worked like a charm. Came with a white and black backdrop and convenient portable pouch. $15-18
